She is the author of OUT ACROSS THE NOWHERE, a collection of stories, THE LEMONADE YEAR, a novel and the forthcoming, THE YEAR OF THORNS AND HONEY, a novel.

J. D. Cortese is a scientist and educator by training, and a writer out of a passion for communication. Winner of awards for both science and teaching, he has received also the prestigious annual award of The Writers’ Workshop of Asheville for literary fiction.

Gregg Cusick’s early fiction featured a horse named Nag and was accompanied by hand-Crayolaed illustrations. Over the years, he has supported his writing habit through work as a furniture mover, English teacher, paralegal, construction worker, retail manager, among others. His fiction has appeared in more than two dozen journals and has won numerous awards, including the Lorian Hemingway Short Story Competition and The Florida Review Editor’s Prize, and has been nominated for three Pushcart Prizes. He holds a Master’s in English/Creative Writing from North Carolina State University and lives in Durham, North Carolina, where he bartends and tutors adult literacy.
