Page 158 Books welcomes Flora J. Solomon to discuss her new novel Along the Broken Bay.
In a blink of an eye, life changes for American born Gina Thorpe, who is living the good life in Manila when the Japanese invade the Philippines in December 1941. Working with a small band of guerrillas, she opens Pearl Blue, a nightclub that becomes a hub of resistance in the occupied city and a source of funds that support both the underground armies and American soldiers held in Japanese prison camps. The story was inspired by true events.
Flora J. Solomon worked as a researcher/analyst in Michigan's university/healthcare industries until her retirement and move with her husband to the North Carolina seashore. It was, then, she started writing fiction. Her first novel, A Pledge of Silence, was selected the Historical Novel Society's Editor's Choice.
